Dixon Wilson appealed to me because of its reputation and the well-rounded graduate scheme that it offered. I have enjoyed the opportunity to work on a diverse range of private and corporate clients which has involved the preparation of accounts, tax returns and conducting audits.

I joined Dixon Wilson in March 2021 having graduated from Edinburgh University with a degree in History. Coming from a humanities background I was pleased to find out that many skills were directly transferrable to the ACA qualification and that Dixon Wilson was very receptive to hiring people with varying skillsets. Dixon Wilson appealed to me because of its reputation and the well-rounded graduate scheme that it offered. I have enjoyed the opportunity to work on a diverse range of private and corporate clients which has involved the preparation of accounts, tax returns and conducting audits. As a result, I have gained practical experience in various sectors of the ACA syllabus and can continue my career in a specialism that I know I will enjoy.

Being a mid-sized firm, Dixon Wilson also affords the opportunity to gain responsibility early on in your career. I have developed working relationships with all members of the firm’s hierarchy which not only provides a strong culture of collaboration but also accords pragmatic training. This has established an insight into the career progression within Dixon Wilson and how highly it values those that have completed their training contracts with the firm.

Whilst the ACA exams are certainly challenging, Dixon Wilson is heavily invested in helping you achieve your goals. Overtime is managed to allow for effective studying and there is a strong support network offering advice. The diverse workload also helps consolidate and apply what you study in the ACA programme.

Beyond work there is also an engaging social scene within Dixon Wilson. There are regular alcoholic/non-alcoholic social and sporting events for those that wish to get involved, ensuring that there is something for everyone. This has involved puppy yoga, pumpkin carving, football and T20 cricket.
